  2. Kinematics is the study of motion.

  3. Distance normally refers to the total distance an object moves during a particular journey. • Displacement refers to the distance from the starting point at a particular instant in time. We normally use s for displacement (which is pretty silly, since s looks like it should stand for speed, but doesn't).

  5. Gradient is the rate of change of distance

  6. In this graph the object is moving away I.e. increasing the distance with time at a constant rate.

  7. This general graph represents the motion of a body travelling at constant velocity. The graph is linear (that is, a straight line).

  8. Speed is how fast you are goingVelocity is how fast and in what direction

  9. Acceleration is the change in velocity per time.
