  2. Cold Compressor bearings OK Cold Compressor cartridge during bearings tests at 80K Mag B Touch down bearings for “emergency” P2 stop (Magnetic bearings)

  3. Cold Compressors electrical cabinets Frequency drives and magnetic bearing controlers 24VDC relays and communication P2 stop (Magnetic bearings) First such failure mode, Pre-series (≈ non-stop since 2003)

Main facts • Failure mode diagnostic made and fast exchange (from P6 2nd Ref.) implemented (spares purchased not yet configured and validated) • Standard recovery procedure/timing applied • Faulty components to be analysed for further actions to be studied and implemented • To be noted: Beam dump some 50 min. after original failure with current slow de-ramping to follow => We feel we should better assess the risks associated with powering kept on cryo-inertia to maximum possible P2 stop (Magnetic bearings)
