2. The word “栋笃笑” is created by Wong Chi-wah. It is called stand-up comedy in English. Usually, a comedian performer in front of a live audience, speaks directly to them. The performer is commonly known as a comic, stand-up comic, stand-up comedian or simply a stand-up.

However, it emphasis more on the interaction between the performer and the audiences and the performer’s flexibility. • The famous inland version of “栋笃笑” is Zhou Libo’s “海派清口”.

6. “栋笃笑” in Guangdong • 任永全－The host of TV programme任讲唔嬲 of Guangdong Television. He lists himself as the first stand-up comedian in Guangdong. • 　　阮星航－He held a stand-up comedy, called 《栋笃撑之唔系讲笑》in Zhongshan Memorial Hall in 2005. It is called the most creative and surprise performance in local creation.
