  2. Why study names? • a. Helps us understand the purpose behind the incarnation. • b. Help us to relate to God. • c. Helps us know what He means to us today.

  3. The Hebrew word “wonderful” signifies: • a. Something indescribably great. • b. Something tremendous. • c. Beyond description. • Jesus knows things only God knows. • His ways, plans and purposes.

  4. In Jesus, we have someone who can guide and direct our lives. • He is never confused or mistaken. • Knows exactly what to do.

  5. There is a great need for advice / counsel in our society. • Wisdom and counsel are important. • Proverbs 1:5 – “Will hear, learn..” • Psalms 33:11- “Stands forever” • What makes Jesus WONDERFUL?

  6. 1. He UNDERSTANDS Your Struggles. • Hebrews 4:15 – “tested in every way” • He can relate to you. • Knows exactly what you are going through. • He knows your situation.

  7. He knows my heart and mind. • Because of this we are able to “approach the throne of grace” (Hebrews 4:16) • John 1:14 – “Word became flesh” • Jesus knows how rough life can get. • He understands your struggles.

  8. 2. He CARES for you. • 1 Peter 5:7 – “God cares for you.” • Some counselors only care as long as you can pay the bill. • But Jesus cares for you as a person. • He cares about your character.

  9. He cares about your spiritual growth, emotional welfare. • He cares about the pain you suffer. • You are of value and worth. • Matt. 6:26 – “Worth more.” • He thinks so much of you that He sent His Son to die for you.

  10. To give you new hope, new life and salvation. • God cares for you. • He will help you with your problems. • He will help you deal with them. • Matt.11:28 – “Come To Me.”

  11. 3. He COMMITS Himself to you. • Jesus wants us to have a personal relationship with each of us • John 10:27 ‘”Hear my voice.” • Jesus speaks to us. • How does Jesus do that?

  12. Through the BIBLE – Ps.119:105 B. Through the HOLY SPIRIT – John 16:13 C. Through the CHURCH – the world’s largest support group. • Do not be a “lone ranger.” • Col.3:16 – “ Word dwell richly.”

  13. Remember • God is the source of all wisdom. • Job 12:13 – “Belongs wisdom and power” • Psalm 16:7 – “Counsels us.” • Proverbs 2:6 – “Gives wisdom”

  14. B. To receive wisdom – Pray. • When we pray, the Holy Spirit gets involved. • John 14:26 – “The Counselor, the Holy Spirit.” • Isaiah 11:2 – “Spirit of wisdom.” • Ephesians 1:17 – “Give you wisdom.”
