  2. Assistive Technology • Is any device or service that helps a student with a disability to meet his or her IEP goals and to participate in the general education setting to the greatest possible extent.

  3. Law • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)- it requires that reasonable accommodations be provided in meeting the needs of individuals with disabilities. • Assistive Technology Act of 1998-establishes a grant program administered by the U.S. Department of Education, to provide Federal funds it support State programs that address the assistive technology needs of individuals with disabilities.

  4. Types of assistive technology Seeing impaired HD Video Magnifier- helps assist in seeing text, videos, pictures, or writing. Hearing impaired • Hearing aid- worn on or behind the ear to assist in hearing.

  5. Types of assistive technology Physically Disabled Walker- helps aid walking. Learning disabled • Reading pen- scans and reads the text to the disabled.
