  4. Project Background • The MaSC II projects builds upon the outcomes and foundations delivered by the first MaSC project (ECHO/SUB/2014/693661) • a common understanding of criteria for mass shelter capabilities • planning guidelines for modular mass shelter capabilities. www.mascproject.eu

Overall objectives of MaSC II • MaSC II is designed to enhance preparedness across participating states regarding deployment and hosting of mass shelter capabilities • by identifying detailed requirements for the deployment of the defined mass shelter capability • by produce recommendations and guidelines • develop detailed supporting materials for the deployment of flexible, scalable and interoperable UCPM mass shelter capabilities

Specific Objectives of MaSC II • Deployment Requirements for a Mass Shelter Capability Provide recommendations covering all phases of a shelter deployment which will serve to better prepare for deployments in emergency scenarios. • Mass Shelter Case Study Review: Comparative Analysis of Mass Shelter Guidance and European Emergency and Mass Shelter Experiences Provide a comparative analysis of Mass Shelter Guidance and Case Studies relevant to mass shelter experiences. • MaSC workshops Raise awareness and develop recommendations for further enhancement of preparedness in the field of mass shelter Expert Profiles and Tasks for Camp Set-Up and Camp Management • Emergency Engineering: Mass Shelter Construction Needs and Schedule Develop a generic site planning and equipment lists as well as personal overview to set up a mass shelter for 10.000 persons according the guidance document of the MaSC project.
