  1. What’s Next? April 2013

  2. Your Assignments • 1-2 state coaching teams • State coordinator • 1 state coach for every 2 participating local Leagues • May be new or continuing states • A partner coach • Attend instate training

  3. Each state coaching team is different.

  4. New vs. Continuing States • Will likely work with at least one continuing state • Present different opportunities and challenges

  5. New States • Only 9 states (Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming) • All will be trained this summer and begin coaching thereafter (offers face-to-face opportunity) • Large geography with small, fragile League presence

  6. Continuing States • Began program at various times • May have some or all local Leagues participating • No training opportunity to meet in person (provided by LWVUS) • YOU will be the new element

  7. Let’s play a game. . . • I’m coaching LWV of Place and they’ve been doing a great job. They gained 7 members last year in 2012 and I don’t think they need a coach any more. • LWV of Place thinks that participating in the MLD program will be too much work. They are already struggling to put on a couple events each year. How can we possibly ask them to do this, too?

  8. What would you say? • The local Leagues I coach already do all the MLD stuff, but it isn’t working. • We would love to put on a training to bring on more local Leagues and state coaches, but we don’t have any money. • We can’t find anyone to be a state coach. Everybody is too busy.

  9. Get ready to. . . • Be persistent. • Be patient. • Be surprised. • Be inspired. • Have fun!
