  1. Slab Vase with stiff clay

  2. Take newspaper 9”x11”

  3. Begin cutting out several designs

  4. Decide on your final design

  5. Make any new adjustments that you want

  6. Roll out a 5/16” slab of clay. • Place the slab on a piece of Massonite board overnight. Cover the clay and Massonite board with a plastic bag and close it tight.

  7. Place your template on your clay

  8. Cut around the template with your knife straight up

  10. Make slab’s for the side of the vessel • Create 5/16” slabs about 2 ½ inch wide. • These will be for the sides of the vessel. • You will need to place these on Massonite also.

  11. Cut the side slabs to fit

  12. Cut all sides before attaching

  13. When cutting the sides cut straight up and down.

  14. Once all the sides are cut place the sides on by cross hatching and using slip.

  15. Once all the sides are on. Place the template on the vessel to see if it is straight.

  16. Place the back of the vase on by cross hatching and slipping.

  17. Blend clay over the seams so you do not see them.
