Introduction • Stung Treng Province • Mix population both Khmer and Lao • Located in the Northeastern part of Cambodia • Closed to Lao PDR • Is about 300km from Phnom Penh • Lao settlement has been located since Sangkum period • Sreh Po village • is larger than the other village • most parents are Khmer-Lao parents • was combined with Dong Ta Dam village • A project implemented called Stung Treng Women Development centre project

Background to the study • Different stages of socialization practices (home vs school) • Those kinds of practices have shown self-identification • Children are more familiar to Khmer rather than Lao • Language as identity was simply lost • habitual activities and culture of teaching have remained some

  4. Statement of Problems • Education is now expected to help ethnic groups maintain their culture through socialization of learning • The way in which one can continued existence of their culture • So this research will be conducted to answer the following questions: • Does it true due to the child who can attend school, they are being socialized than those who cannot? • When children start primary school, will they find hard to deal with influences to lose their identities?

Objectives to the study • To examine a primary school as (sub) system in the community which functions as socialization agent • To find out the place where internal socialization occurs • To explore the way in which one can remain identity when he or she begin to live in different society • To see how education influences to living choice and condition

  6. Research Methodology • 6 families, in a village • Target population-parents • Data collection methods • Qualitative approach • Participation Observation • Life history • In dept-interview • Quantitative • Structure interview-questionnaires
