  1. First Calculation Runs Andrew Jellyman – Birmingham City Council

  2. Calculation of aircraft noise levels National Air Traffic Services (NATS) were engaged to create the aircraft noise model and carry out the noise calculations on behalf of BUMP These calculations were carried out using a 100 x 100 metre grid Interpolation was used to provide BUMP with the required 10 x 10 metre grid results Finance was provided by the UK Government Final results were provided in January 2006 with a short report on the process undertaken

  3. Calculated aircraft noise levels This is a small sample of the aircraft noise data provided by NATS. The total runs to nearly 5.5 million lines of data!

  4. Calculation of road traffic noise levels BUMP used the UK Calculation of Road Traffic Noise (CRTN) as implemented in Lima noise mapping software A ‘Back End’ correction was used to derive Lden Noise calculations were made on a 10 x 10 metre grid and also at building facades (3 metre spacing) All calculations were carried out at a height of 4 metres above ground

  5. Calculation of road traffic noise levels Example of grid result file

  6. Calculation of road traffic noise levels Example of facade results

  7. Calculation of rail traffic noise levels BUMP is using the UK Calculation of Rail Noise (CRN) as implemented in Lima noise mapping software Noise calculations are being made on a 10 x 10 metre grid and also at building facades (3 metre spacing) All calculations are being carried out at a height of 4 metres above ground
