What are design tools? • Design tools are the software used to produce a solution to a problem • In many cases a solution will require the use of more than one piece of software • For example, a website may be produced using a web authoring program but any images used may need to be manipulated using image editing software N.B. Design tools are sometimes also referred to as ICT tools

  3. Choosing design tools • Choosing the most appropriate design tools for a solution is very important • Choice will depend on: • What design tools are available • The level of experience the designer has with the design tools that are available • Whether or not the design tools that are chosen are compatible with other software that will be used

  4. Design techniques • Design techniques are the ways in which design tools are used to produce a viable solution to a problem • These are dependant upon: • The design tools that have been chosen • The level of experience the designer has with the design tools that have been chosen • The level of experience the designer has with solving similar problems
