Overview of the product HR-30 (HR-30-Ex) series detect water levels in tanks and are used together with control units for different uses in processes to perform the function of alarms and control during water supply or drainage. These series can measure levels up to four points. These detectors are sturdy in structure, highly reliable, and have long lifetime. Because PVC and PTFE are used on their detecting elements, these detectors can be used for chemicals too. These detectors are mainly used in measuring clear water, industrial water, and liquids in LPG tanks, chemical tanks, etc. 2. Operation principle and product composition The float rises as the level of the liquid goes up. When the magnet installed in the float has reached at a certain movement point on the proximity switch in the guide pipe, the contact point is turned on (inter case of A contact point) or off (in the case of B contact point). When the level of the liquid goes down, the contact point is turned off in case it has been turned on and is turned on in case it has been turned off. Using this principle, if these detectors are connected with Control Units, they can be applied to and used in automatic supply of liquids, prevention of pump idling, upper/lower limit alarms for liquids, and automatic drainage. Matters related to operation and use 1) Connect the wires in accordance with the connection diagram. 2) HR-30 -Ex Series are made into NO (A contact point) or NC (B contact point) as ordered by customers. Maintenance and repair methods 6-1 Product checks Major parts of HR-30(Ex) Series to be checked are the sensor element REED S/W, resistors, and floats. The lifetimes of major parts vary with user environments and the product can be used in optimum conditions through periodic checks. Therefore, users should maintain and repair the product through periodic checks conducted once per year. The product can be checked by checking its appearance to see if it has been damaged. However, parts that cannot be judged by the naked eyes can be checked through simple tests. (Sensor element checking method) 1) Place the selector switch of the tester on the buzzer. 2) Open the cover of the product and connect the tester pin to one of terminal blocks E1–E4 and the COM terminal. 3) The product is normal if the buzzer sounds when the float has been moved by the hand and placed on the contact point. (A contact point) In the case of B contact points, the buzzer sounds at normal times and does not sounds when the float has been moved to the contact point. 4) When the product is checked using tester resistance, in the case of A contact points, the product is normal if the tester’s pointer points 0Ω when the float has been moved by the hand and in the case of B contact points, the product is normal if the tester’s pointer points infinity when the float has been moved by the hand . If the product is used for highly viscous liquids, its sensor elements should be periodically cleaned. Maintenance and repair methods(continued) 6-2 Reminders when separating the product - Separate the product after checking the water level in the tank and whether the object to be measured is in the tank or not. - Use gloves when separating the product because the product may be overheated to cause burns. - Do not open the cover of the product if any explosive gas atmosphere exists. - Before opening the cover, release the SET SCREW (explosion-proof key) (in the case of explosion-proof products) - Separate the product after turning off the power. 7. Reminders during transport, assembling, or installation 7-1 Reminders during installation - When two flanges are fastened together, the flanges should be of the same specification. - The user should place a washer between each bolt and nut to prevent loosening. - Gaskets should be used when two flanges are fastened together. (Select the gaskets considering the temperature of the content and the pressure of the container) - The user should install appropriate products after judging whether related products are to be used in explosion-proof regions. - Supply the power after fastening the flanges and assembling the cover of the product 7-2 Reminders during transport and dismantling - When transporting or installing the product, immense impacts should not be applied to the product. - When opening or closing the cover of the product, be careful not to cause damage to the o-ring or the gasket. 7-3 Reminders in relation to external wire inserting methods (Explosion-proof product) - The user should use the cable grand connection method or the metal tube wire insertion method for the wire entrance. When the product is connected using the external wire insertion method, products that have been certified for explosion-proof for performance at least equal to the relevant explosion-proof product. - For external wire insertion elements not used, use closing plugs that passed safety certification for explosion-proof for performance at least equal to the relevant explosion-proof product. 7-4 Reminders for ground connections - Ground connections include external and internal ones. For external ground connections, the ground wire size should be 4㎟ (4mmSQ). - Internal ground wires should be in the same size as the power cable; provided that, the size of the internal ground terminal lug should be 3.1㎟ (3.1mmSQ). If the power cable is larger than 3.1㎟, the ground wire should be connected after taking out the terminal lug. Note: When connecting the ground wire after taking out the terminal lug from the internal ground terminal, a washer should be used essentially (to prevent loosening). HR-30_M_KHITROL CO., LTD.

Matters related to safety and environments • 8-1 Reminders during use • When fastening the product to the container, the product should be fastened so that it is maximally in contact with the container using a tool, etc. • The locking device should not be lost while the product is being used and should be fastened without fail • Immense impacts should not be applied to the product. • 8-2 Reminders when connecting the product • The transmitter should be connected in accordance with its use. • The internal ground (the ground terminal is in the producthead) and the external ground should be connected without fail • 8-3 Product disposal • To dispose of the product because it is not usable, the terminal blocks in the product container and the body should be separated. Because there is no part that would affects environments, no special care is necessary. (e.g., Mercury switch) 9. Product mark 9-1 Explosion-proof certification mark The explosion-proof certification mark is as shown on the right and is attached to the product before the product is shipped. (modelHR-30S(H)-Ex) 9-2 Productidentification mark The productidentification mark is attached to the head. Product related inquiries should be made to the head office after identifying the serial number. To serial number is unique manufacturing number used to identify the product.   9. 2013-01-17_Rev.0 10. Matters related to user education The product should be used after fully understanding the aforementioned matters. The temperature of fluids in containers on which the product is used should not exceed 80℃ at the maximum in the case of general types. The fluid temperature should not exceed 150℃ in the case of high temperature types and the surface temperature of the product installed on the relevant container should not exceed 135℃ (T4 grade) at the maximum. The ambient temperature of the HEAD should not deviate from -20°C to +60℃. (For products with sensor elements made of PVC, the temperature of fluids in the container is limited to 60℃ at the maximum.) Since explosion-proof type products are explosion-proof products, the product cover should never be opened when the product is in use. General products that are not explosion-proof should not be applied to explosion-proof areas. Explosion-proof products can be used only in places where fluids in surrounding environments and the containers are either class 1 or class 2. 11.
