  3. Joined French Army in 1771 Left France to go to America during the American Revolution Fought along side Washington’s army Left to send French troops to aid Washington’s army and give them additional supplies Career Path

  4. Fought with Washington at Valley Forge in 1777 In 1786 was appointed to the assembly of notables by King Louis XVI On July 26th 1789 was named Commander of National Guard Returned to France in 1799 to obtain greater French support for the Americans Major Events

  5. After the war, returned to France in 1825 Was known as “Hero of two Worlds” Dismissed from National Guard, became critic for new king Died May 20th 1834 Last years
