  2. Why I chose 36: My dad • I found this number interesting because it is a square number. • The number that makes it a square number is 6 because 6 times 6 is 36, and the number ends in a 6, that is what I found so interesting. • Also another reason is that 6 years ago my father was 36.

  3. Factors • Here are all the different factors of 36. • Factors of 36: 1,2,3,4,6,9,13,18,36.

  4. Proper Factors • The proper factors of 36 are: 1,2,3,4,6,9,12, and 18 • 36 is not a proper factor of itself because proper factors of a number are the factors except for the number itself. 1,2,3,4,6,9,12,18,

  5. Multiples • Some of the multiples of 36 are: • 36, 72, 108, 144, 180. • Multiples go on forever so I would never finish with that list.

  6. Multiply Mathematical facts • 6 times 6 is 36 • 2 times 18 is 36 • 36 divided by 3 is 12 • 36 divided by 9 is 4 • 36 divided by 12 is 3 Divided

  7. Connections to the real world • Mynumber is related to the real world in many ways. • For example in the morning after breakfast I might have 36 more minutes till I have to go to school, or I might have to do 36 questions in one of my classes. • There might be 36 days till someone’s b-day, and the final one is I will probably have to use the number 36 in my Math class.

  8. My number in the factor game • My number wasn’t in the factor game because 36 isn’t normally a factor. • The highest number on the factor game is 30. • That is why 36 is not in the factor game. 36

  9. My number in the Product game • In the product game I learned that my number was not a very good move because then you could only make four in a row diagonal (one way) up, down, right and that is all. • Which means that you wont have much choice If you choose that number.

  10. First move • My number is not in the factor game • My number would not be a good first move because as I said before then you can only go one diagonal, up, down and right. It is better to choose a number in the middle for a first move.

  11. Anything to do with factors • My number is abundant because its proper factors add up to 56 which is more than the number itself. • My number has five factor pairs which means the numbers are multiplied by each other to get 36. • My number is even since it can be divided by 2. • My number is a composite since it has 3 or more factors.

  12. Dimensions • My number has 5 dimensions, in other words 5 factor pairs. • The dimensions are: 1 times 36 is 36, 2 times 18 is 36, 3 times 12 is 36, 4 times 9 is 36, 6 times 6 is 36. Those are the dimensions. • You can show dimensions by making models.

  13. A Model of 36

  14. Why is it square?? • The number 36 is square because if you had 36 dots you could arrange it in a square.

  15. What else? • Did you know that 36 is also a triangular number because, of the same reason, if you had 36 dots you could arrange it in a triangle.

  16. Did you know? • 36 is a 13-gonal number. • There are 36 inches in a yard.

  17. Prime factorization • The prime factorization of 36 is 2 times 2 times 3 times 3. • You can get a prime factorization if you make a factor tree. 36 /\ 6×6 /\ /\ 2×3×2×3 Prime factorization

  18. History • Now you know almost everything about 36, it is about time you learned history. • In 36 BC the son of Cleopatra Vlll of Egypt and Mark Antony, Ptolemy Philadelphus was born.
