Committees Per the training session discussion December 4, 2018; • The following Committees are being proposed; • Asset Management; (transportation and facilities) • Waste Management, • Human Resources/Administration/Public Relations, • Emergency Services, • Social/Health Services, • Economic Development, The following slides outline the specific goals and tasks for each committee, please review and confirm you agree with these as “Strategic Priorities”, at the first meeting of each committee a workplan with timelines will be developed and from that a standard report card for each.

  3. Asset ManagementRoad, Facilities and Financial Planning Goals; • Re-pave 1.75km of Major/Victoria Lake Road, Re-pave Hay/McRae Lake Road, Pave McKenzie Lake Road, Apply for grant to re-surface/improve signage in Sabine, • Replace Culvers in Sabine, Maintain/enhance existing infrastructure, • Cover Rink/s, • Develop agreement with MNRF regarding non-operating Parks, • Come up with amicable solution for the renaming of Landsdown Ave/Jocko Lane, • Develop plan for every boat launch, • Lines on Aylen Lake Road, Tasks; • Use current asset management plan to develop the 2019 Capital program, • Apply for Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) for asset management funding to update SA Asset Management Plan including 10-20 year financial plan to determine how we can afford to accomplish the above goals, • Develop Road naming policy.

  4. Waste Management Goals; • Improve Re-cycling facilities, • Finalize C of A for Lyell Landfill, Pressure province to transfer lands, • Consult with property owners Association in Sabine Ward regarding recent changes in waste collection and try to resolve in acceptable manner, Tasks; • Develop Plan for additional recycling and dedicate budget to it, • C of A and land transfer ongoing and Council could engage with the minister through correspondence or at a delegation, • If changes to the waste collection by-law are being proposed the committee should research and understands the budget and service implications prior to any discussion with property owners, • Committee should consider tipping fees and other ways to ensure that waste is not being brought in from outside of the township,

  5. Human Resources, Administration and Public Relations Goals • Develop Property Standards By-law • Improve Public relations, • Attract a younger demographic, • Develop a Brand, • Transparency of Council meetings (recordings/podcasts), • Improve staff moral, • Greater employee awareness of Health and Safety act, Tasks; • Develop a Branding project through the Admin Committee and include budget • Develop a strategy within HR committee that outlines specific, measurable tasks for the above goals.

Emergency Services Goals; • Streamline emergency services financial/equipment, • Develop and implement PTSD in accordance with provincial legislation, • Volunteer Recruitment for Fire Departments, • Clarify Roles for Fire Departments Tasks; • Engage with services providers such as; MNRF, DNSSAB and OPP to determine how our policy should be developed to work most effectively with contracted services

Economic Development Goals; • Create Transportation Options, Explore community transport/volunteer drivers on a schedule, more available out of town travel/bus route, • Tourism Plan, Strategic Economic Development Plan beyond Tourism, • High speed intranet to enhance home work opportunity, • Continue to build on Community Hub for youth and adults, • Create Home Based Business Options, • Develop relationship with business owners, • Develop a plan for Down Town revitalization grant, • Create Dark Sky policy, • Job Creation, encourage business to consider with incentives Tasks; • Engage OMAFRA, FEDNOR, MNDM and create an Economic Development Plan that includes grants for staffing,

Social and Health Services Goals; • Work with Champlain LHIN to divest Municipalities of the voluntary financial commitment for Physician Recruitment, • Inquire about a succession plan for our family health team in South Algonquin, • Exit Cassellholme agreement, • Implement Pilot project for proper nutritional meals for seniors to enhance their standard of living allowing them to remain in their homes longer, Increase LOS for in-home seniors care, • Increase Housing Options, Seniors Complex Tasks; • Engage with various Boards to provide information to our council, • Work with CMHA and DNSSAB to have a feasibility study completed in 2019 which will produce the data required to move forward with a housing strategy.
