  2. Registration Process Students will review the course catalog and completely fill out all registration forms. Students will log into their Infinite Campus account and register for the classes listed on their registration form. Students who have not yet completed their College in Colorado Individual Career and Academic Plan requirements need to do so prior to the Registration Review Session. If you have questions see Mrs. Brown. Students will meet with their counselor to finalize their schedule and submit all registration materials.

  4. PE Waiver Policy PE Waivers are only for students who, due to a rigorous academic course load, can not fit a PE course into their schedule. Up to 1.0 of the 2.0 PE credits required for graduation can be waived when specific criteria are met. • Students who maintain full-time student status (defined as a daily course schedule with 7/8 classes per semester) during all four years of high school and meet all other graduation requirements may waive an initial .5 physical education credit by successfully completing the following criteria: • Two (2) St. Vrain Valley School District athletic programs at the varsity or junior varsity level (two different sports; same sport two seasons); or • 72 hours during one semester of an appropriate, pre-approved, structured, and supervised activity outside of the school district. • Students with an advanced course schedule, including enrollment in multiple academically rigorous courses, may also request .5 physical education credit waiver when combined with one of the above criteria. • See SVVSD Board Policy IKF-R for more details

  5. IB DIPLOMA REQUIREMENTS • IB Students must meet all SVVSD graduation requirements with the exception of US/CO Government. • Additionally, IB students must complete a IB level 4 World Language. • IB Students must complete at least three Higher Level classes and three Standard Level classes. • IB Students must complete a Theory of Knowledge class during the spring of their junior year AND the fall of their senior year. • IB Students must also complete their Extended Essay, CAS hours and receive qualifying scores on their IB Examinations.

COLLEGE BOUND STUDENTS • 4 years of English • 4 years of College Prep Math • 3 to 4 years of Science • 3 to 4 years of Social Science • 2 to 3 years of World Language Every college has its own specific admissions requirements. Please make sure to review admissions requirements at each school you are considering. Some examples include speech, economics and fine arts.

Sophomore Registration Tips • Read Course Description Guide regarding which electives you are eligible to take, and check for any pre-requisites. • If you’d like a study hall, make sure to list that on requests (can specify semester by listing number with F or S). • Look into CDC classes. If interested, complete the CDC application and submit it with your registration forms. • Appropriate Math and Honors courses have already been recommended by your current teacher. • Continue taking World Language classes. • If you failed a core class- list it on your registration sheet and your counselor will advise you of your options for summer school or credit recovery. • Planning on playing college sports? Notify your counselor, register with the NCAA Eligibility Center and make sure to take classes that meet NCAA requirements. For example, Intermediate Algebra is not an approved course.

Sophomore Tips for Success • Take challenging classes – meet college entrance requirements • Keep grades high • Use a planner to help you organize • Continue to check Infinite Campus to monitor grades • Get involved in school and community • Explore leadership opportunities • Take the PSAT in the fall of 10th grade • Begin researching colleges and add them to your list on Naviance

  9. 10th Grade Registration Tips – AP Classes • Students must complete the AP Request form and obtain all necessary signatures to register for AP US History, AP Computer Science or AP Calculus or Statistics. • AP class requests require your current subject teacher signature and the AP teacher signature. • AP Request forms must be submitted with all registration forms to your counselor during your Registration Review Session.

  16. Online Registration • Log on to your Infinite Campus Account • Click on CourseRegistration: 14-15 Niwot High School

  19. Online Registration Continued Make sure you‘ve selected 16 /16 course requests. As you select courses, they will show up in here.

  22. Online Registration Continued To drop a course, click on the name of the course and then click on “Drop This Request”

  23. When all requests are entered, click on Print Request Summary

  24. Have a parent sign here and submit this form along with all other required forms to your counselor during your review session

Online Registration Continued • Make sure that you’ve selected 16/16 courses and 8/8 alternate elective courses. • Print a copy of your course requests (click “print request summary”) and have a parent sign this form. Submit this form to your counselor. • Math course recommendations and honors recommendations have already been entered. • Registration will be finalized after meeting with your counselor during the Registration Review Session.

Registration Review Session • Every student will meet with their counselor to finalize their registration and course requests. • Students must bring all completed registration forms to the Review Session with their counselor. • Students who have not yet completed their College in Colorado Individual Career and Academic Plan requirements need to do so prior to the Registration Review Session. If you have questions see Mrs. Brown. • Your registration will not be complete until you’ve met with your counselor. • Review Sessions will occur on February 19th and 20th during Science classes.

Review Session Materials The following materials MUST be brought to your Registration Review Session with your counselor: • Sophomore Course Selection Form • AP Course Request Form • Online Registration (Print Request Summary) signed by parent The following materials MUST also be brought to your counselor if applicable: • CDC Application • Elementary Tutor Application

QUESTIONS See your counselor for more specific questions about courses, graduation requirements, and college admissions requirements. • DON’T FORGET • Complete your Sophomore Registration form. • Complete your online registration. • Complete College in Colorado Individual Career and Academic Plan • Meet with your counselor and turn in all required registration materials.
