Challenges • Budget: • Essentially Flat • We continue to experience a heavy serials inflation rate • KYVL Budget Cuts: • First Cut: $800,000/$1.1 mill Budget • Later Reduced to $450,000 • Lost 15 KYVL databases • Professional Development Collection • Health Source Nursing • Religion & Philosophy Collection • Military & Government Collection • Computing • Literary Reference Center • Biography Reference Bank • ArticlesFirst • Papersfirst • World Almanac • ProceedingsFirst • Clase and Periodica • ECO • Electronic Books by OCLC • WorldCat Dissertations and Theses

  3. Accomplishments • Serials • Implemented New Collections Model • Cut 283 seldom or never-used titles • Have added approximately 2,600 new titles (electronic) • Moved from approx. 1,700 titles total to approx. 3,800 titles

JSTOR: • Added two new collections – Arts & Sciences VI, and the first regional collection, Ireland • Continue to be full subscribers (to our knowledge, we are the only state institution in KY, including UK and U of L, to hold this distinction Arts & Sciences VI Title List Will total 120 titles (2010) including: Business Ethics Quarterly Cambridge Law Journal Economic and Political Weekly Financial Management IMF Staff Papers Middle East Journal NWSA Journal Politics and the Life Sciences Review of International Political Economy Risk Management The World Bank Economic Review The World Bank Research Observer Ireland At completion in 2009, will include 2,500 manuscripts, 800 monographs, and 75 journals, including: CollectaneaHibernica The Dublin Penny Journal Irish Historical Studies Irish Journal of American Studies Irish Journal of Earth Sciences The Irish Penny Journal Irish Studies in International Affairs Journal of Irish Archaeology Nordic Irish Studies

  6. Accomplishments • 3. Welcome Center: • Space was originally the Archives • The space was remodeled, giving the Library a new 1st floor entrance and a redesigned “store front” for Archives • The Welcome Center facility was jointly managed by Admissions and the Library • The space has reverted to the Library • The large room will continue to be available campus wide • Circulation has moved to the desk • The small conference room will be available for the immediate future

  8. Accomplishments • 5. RFID • Between 1/3 and 1/2 of the collection has been tagged • Beginning to scan collection. Will be able to inventory collection 3x per year vs once every 1.5 years
