  1. Robbie the Robot Story by Andy Schmidt Pictures by Rebecca Yeates

  2. Robbie was a lovely shiny robot. He was very proud of his shiny metal skin.

  3. Unfortunately, one day Robbie had an accident… He was visiting his friend Bert in the science lab and he walked past a giant magnet.

  4. WOOSH! He was stuck to the magnet. He wriggled and wriggled, but he couldn’t get away.

  5. Eventually Bert and Robbie worked together and managed to slide some plastic in-between Robbie and the magnet.

  6. Robbie was free! He was very thankful.

  7. How would you have got Robbie off the giant magnet?

  8. After that, strange things kept happening to Robbie. Every time he walked past a pile of safety pins or paper clips some stuck to his skin.

  9. OOPS! ROBBIE HAS BECOME A MAGNET!

  10. MrsSmit returned to her desk after Robbie had walked past and noticed her pile of paper clips was smaller!

  11. Mrs Wilson noticed after Robbie had walked past her desk her pile of pins was smaller.

  12. If MrsSmit started with 10 paper clips, would counting how many paper clips Robbie had stuck to himself help MrsSmit to work out how many paper clips she has left?

  13. GAME Create a pile of items on the floor. Have someone leave the room and then either add or subtract from the pile. When the person comes back in they must guess whether there are more or less items on the pile.

  14. ACTIVITY Draw one of the last scenes: MrsSmit’s desk OR Mrs Wilson’s desk
