ABOUT US SINGAPORE ENVIRONMENT INSTITUTE • Set up as the Centre for Environmental Training (CET) in January 1993 • an internal training arm of the Singapore Ministry of the Environment (ENV) • SEI became a training division of the National Environment Agency (NEA)in July 2002 • help to fulfill NEA’s mission by providing quality environmental training so that… • NEA achieves operational effectiveness • NEA contributes to global sustainable development efforts

Sharing with Other Developing Countries Under the aegis of the Singapore Co-operation Programme, regular training courses are conducted on a range of environmental topics for participants from fellow developing counties. Joint / Third Country Training Programme Training assistance is provided in collaboration with a partner country or an international organisation Bilateral Training Assistance Programme Training assistance is offered directly to a developing country by Singapore

Bilateral Training Programme • Singapore Technical Assistance Programme for Sustainable Development (STAPSD) • Launched in 1997 • More than 330 officials from over 65 developing countries attended courses under this Programme • Small Island Developing States Technical Co-operation Programme (SIDSTEC) • Launched in 1999 • Sets to provide training opportunities to 300 government officials from small-island developing states over five years Cover subjects like environmental management, water and wastewater engineering, environmental technology and urban transport planning and design

Joint Training Programme Third Country Training Programme • Programme topics included solid waste and wastewater management, pollution control and marine environmental management. • Some 500 environment officers from more than 20 Asia Pacific countries have benefited from these regional programmes Co-operation Partners include: • Australia • Canada • Denmark • Japan • Korea • Norway • The World Bank • The Asian Development Bank • United Nations Organisations
