  2. Committee on WIPO Standards (CWS) • “Study on availability, reliability and comparability of patent legal status data” • Letter by the PDG’s IMAPCT Working Group with a proposal (12.09.2013) • Third session of the CWS (CWS/3, April 15 to 19, 2013) http://www.wipo.int/meetings/en/details.jsp?meeting_id=29042 • Agenda item 9: “Creation of a task to establish requirements for the delivery of legal status information by industrial property offices”

  3. Committee on WIPO Standards (CWS) • Proposal presented by the International Bureau: working document CWS/3/7 • Comments by the EPO: “Legal Status moving towards XML” (CWS/3/7 Add.) • CWS decided to create new Task No. 47: “Prepare a proposal to establish a new WIPO standard for the exchange of patent legal status data by industrial property offices. Once this task is completed, the corresponding proposal should be extended to trademarks and industrial designs.”

  4. Committee on WIPO Standards (CWS) • The CWS agreed that: • the development of the recommendations should initially be prepared by a platform-independent task force, as the recommendations should be independent of the format to be used; • then, on the basis of the outcome of that initial discussion, the existing Task Forces dealing with XML should be invited to implement the said result in XML.

  5. Committee on WIPO Standards (CWS) The CWS approved the establishment of a new task force to handle the new task. The International Bureau was designated as the task force leader. The report of the CWS/3 session (still as a draft, CWS/3/14 Prov.), which reflects the results of the discussions on patent legal status information by the CWS, and documents CWS/3/7 and CWS/3/7 Add. are available at: http://www.wipo.int/meetings/en/details.jsp?meeting_id=29042
