  2. Ideas and Content • Answers the 5 Ws: who, what, when, where, why • Uses precise words and sensory details to create a sense of immediacy • Captures the mood of the event • Concludes with a brief summary of the personal or historical significance of the event

  3. Structure and Form • Has an attention-getting introduction • Presents events in a clear, logical order • Includes transitional words and phrases to show relationships among ideas

  4. Grammar, Usage and Mechanics • Contains few errors in grammar and usage • Contains few errors in spelling and punctuation

  5. Task Allocation 1) Analysis of Kai Jie’s Essay • Sec 2A2 – register number #1-16 • Sec 2A3 – register number #1-17 2) Reflections on your own report • Sec 2A2 – register number #17-32 • Sec 2A3 – register number #18-33

  6. Task 1 Analyse Kai Jie’s essay by addressing the following questions: • Highlight his choice of words/expressions to describe the events • comment on his introduction and conclusion • highlight his use of transitional words/phrases • learning points from his eyewitness account

  7. Task 2 Write a reflection of your report by addressing the following questions. • did you develop all the required points? • provide elaboration for sketchy points • improve on your introduction and conclusion • choose a paragraph in your report to include transitional words/phrases
