  2. STRATEGIES EU RESEARCH • Include “action research”, with researchers on part- time appointments in policy making or clinical activities

  3. STRATEGIES EU RESEARCH • Anticipate a visible avenue for public health improvements

  4. STRATEGIES EU RESEARCH • Anticipate the diffusion of research findings: * anchor diffusion in the process of acquiring knowledge * consider diffusion as critical for funding

  5. STRATEGIES EU RESEARCH • Link with data on social, managerial and policy issues; focus on: * Feasibility (benefits recognisable) * Necessity for a European approach * Financial implications / cost- effectiveness issues for the different stakeholders

  6. STRATEGIES EU RESEARCH • Do not reinvent the wheel. Mobilise partners who have produced work on the issues and are committed

  7. STRATEGIES EU RESEARCH • Mobilise key researchers in alliance with key institutions and organisations
