  1. Dave Barber is one of 7 artisans certified to make museum reproductions of horns in the United States. Who: Ages 18 & older. (Kids can take the class if their parent does too). Limited to 12 students per 3 day class series. What: 1st & 2nd Class = Learn carving; Take home to work on for next class. 3rd Class = Learn Scrimshaw Tech. and finish up. When: 3 Saturdays each from 10:00 to 12:00 September 12, 19 & 26 October 3, 17, & 24 November 7, 14, & 21 December 5, 12, & 19 Where: American Leatherworks Classroom Area, 514B Delaware, Downtown Leavenworth. 913-364-4811. Cost: $25 paid up front. Plus Materials (bring to class). Materials: You’ll need to buy a 12” horn, an exacto knife with #11 blade, and needle file set (sold at American Leatherworks). You’ll need to bring a 6 or 8” bastard file, a 3 sided file, a rat tail file, and 220 or 100 grit sand paper (we don’t sell them). Dave will provide fiddle pegs, brass tacks, tooth picks and will drill your holes. You’ll have a useable Powder Horn at the end of the class. 3-Day Powder Horn Making Class!!!
