  1. York College Library There are two entrances to the York College Library, both on the third floor; one on the G wing and one on the H wing of the Academic Core Building.

G Wing Library Entrance When you enter the Library on the G wing, you immediately see the Circulation/Reserve Desk in front of you, to the right is one of the reference desks, and to the left is the security station.   3. Circulation/Reserve Desk • Circulating library material can be brought to the Circulation/Reserve Desk to be borrowed using a York College ID card or a CUNY ID card. Library materials can be borrowed for three weeks and can be renewed once. • Reserve materials can be borrowed here and most are used in the library only. • Some videos are also available here.   4. G Wing Reference Desk Library assistance is available at the G Wing reference desk most of the hours the Library is open. For computer help, the user is urged to go to 2GO3. G Wing Entrance to the Library H Wing Entrance to the Library

  5. Security Station in the Library York faculty, staff and students can get ID cards and ID card stickers each semester at the Security station in the Library. The hours of the Security station are posted. G Wing Entrance to the Library H Wing Entrance to the Library

  6. The Stacks In front of the G Wing entrance to the Library is the staircase to the second floor of the Library where all the circulating collection is housed. There are three distinct areas in the stacks: the Circulating Collection, the Oversized Collection, and the Curriculum Materials Center.   7. The Stacks 2 Most items in the stacks are arranged by Library of Congress call number, which is a combination of letter(s) and number(s). The Oversized Collection is also on the second floor of the Library. These items are arranged separately by the Library of Congress call number.   8. Reference Collection The Reference Collection is beyond the G wing Reference Desk on the third floor near the G wing entrance, and is arranged by Library of Congress call number.   9. Photocopy Machines Near the beginning of the Reference Collection on the third floor of the G wing of the Library are three photocopy machines. A user is required to establish an account with (at the present time) a username and password only using numbers, using the kiosk on the counter near the Library Circulation/Reserve area. Group Study Rooms in the Library Beyond the reference collection on the third floor of the Library are several group study rooms, a room for the disabled, and the Library Information Literacy Lab. Walking on this wing brings the user to the H wing entrance to the Library, as well as the H wing reference desk, the current periodicals desk, and the microforms room.   11. H Wing Library Entrance A user can enter the Library on the H wing. Entering the Library on the H wing, to the right is the current periodicals desk, to the left are the group study rooms, the room for the disabled, and the Library Information Literacy Lab.   12. Current Periodicals Desk Current Library materials that are subscribed to can be accessed at the Current Periodicals Desk. To use materials here, the user must fill out a request card and hand in a York College or CUNY ID card to use the materials in the Library. Only use in the Library is permitted.   13. Group Study Rooms Group study rooms can be used by groups within the Library. These rooms are not able to be reserved: they are used on a first come, first served basis. There are two sized group study rooms: some for small groups and some for larger groups. The first of the group study rooms on the H wing of the Library is currently used for photocopy machines. There are two copy machines in this room, and a user must have an account to use these machines. Like those on the G wing of the Library, only accounts with only numbers can be used at this time. An additional kiosk for setting up accounts is currently available on the H wing of the Library. G Wing Entrance to the Library H Wing Entrance to the Library

  14. H Wing Reference Desk Slightly to the right, when a user enters the Library on the H wing, there is a Reference Desk. Library assistance is available at the H Wing reference desk most of the hours the Library is open. For computer help, the user is urged to go to 2GO3.   15. Microforms Room On the corridor beyond the Reference Desk on the H wing of the Library, there is the Microforms Room. In the Microforms Room, there are copies of journals which are generally no longer stored in print. Assistance is available in this room in the Library.   16. Other Rooms in the Library Also on the corridor beyond the H Wing Reference Desk are classrooms and the room that coordinates tutoring in the college. G Wing Entrance to the Library H Wing Entrance to the Library

  17. Information Literacy Lab There is a computer information literacy lab, which is only open when classes are being taught. There are 18 computer stations in the lab. G Wing Entrance to the Library H Wing Entrance to the Library

  18. Printing in the Library There are several printers within the Library which are connected to all the computers within the Library. For each registered student, the College has established an account: the username is the initial of the user’s first name plus the entire user’s last name (no spaces or punctuation) and the password is the last five digits of the user’s social security number.
