Sunshine State Standards vs. Common Core Standards Sunshine State Standards replaced by Common Core State Standards The Common Core State Standards are blueprints of expectations for K-12 students throughout the country in math, English language arts, and literacy in history/social studies, science, and technical subjects.

Testing Dates: February 25th– 26th: F.C.A.T. 2.0 Writing 2.0 (4th) April 7th– 11th: SAT-10 (Kindergarten - 2nd) April 14th – 15th: F.C.A.T. 2.0 Reading (3rd - 5th) April 16th – 17th: F.C.A.T. 2.0 Math (3rd - 4th) April 16th– 17th: F.C.A.T. 2.0 Science (5th) April 28th – May 7th: F.C.A.T. 2.0 Math – Computer Based Test (5th)

Interim Assessments Reading & Mathematics (3-5) Writing (4) Science (5) Baseline Assessments are administered at the beginning of the school year to determine grade level readiness Interims are District Assessments aligned to the Pacing Guides. Interims are administered 2 times a year. (October & January). Pacing Guides offer teachers a schedule of the content that should be covered weekly. Interims are developed by the district to measure student achievement throughout the nine weeks. Interims are a good indicator on how a student will perform on the F.C.A.T. Post-tests are administered in May to measure yearly growth

  7. FAIR Assessment It’s a reading assessment that provides us with a probability of reading success on the F.C.A.T.(Computer-Based Test) F.C.A.T. Success Probability (FSP) is determined by combining the Reading Comprehension Score and previous F.C.A.T. score. This test is administered 3 times a year. ALL Third Grade Students are required to participate in the FAIR Assessment. Only F.C.A.T. Level 1 and 2 students in grades 4-5 are required to participate in the FAIR Assessment.

  8. FAIR Assessment Green Success Zone: (F.C.A.T. Success Probability) (FSP) ≥ 85% on Reading Comprehension) Yellow Success Zone : (F.C.A.T. Success Probability) (FSP) 16- 84% on Reading Comprehension Red Success Zone: (F.C.A.T. Success Probability)(FSP) <15% on Reading Comprehension

  9. STAR Assessment Is a reading test that provides us with the students’ current reading level. Reading level is equivalent to grade level. Example: 3.2 = 3rd grade – 2nd month This test is administered every nine weeks.

Write Score: 4th Grade Administered twice a year (August /Narrative & November/Expository) Assessments are scored by outside vendor using the F.C.A.T. 2.0 rubric These scores provide feedback in order to target specific student deficiencies Homelearning is provided to students to meet individual needs

Constant communication with your child’s teachers Check Portal for grades Review and discuss Data Chat Form sent home with your child Check homelearning daily Provide access to SuccessMaker (school website) at home Make sure that your child is reading for 30 minutes daily Mark your calendar for F.C.A.T. dates and ensure that your child is present and ready to test
