  15. Before the Show • Few Months Before Show do lots of Training that incorporates the class/test requirements. • Month Before/Pre-Show SeasonCheck that your show clothesfit and are clean and that youknow where your shipping boots and show blankets are too as well as where the tack cleaner is!

  16. Week Before Show, bath andclip your horse & clean your tack!

  17. Day of/Night Before, braid your horse’s mane & tail too if needed. Make sure all his shipping gear is there and ready. Do a final brushing.

  18. Once you’ve trailered over, it’s time to check in. Make sure you have all membership information and health papers that you need. • Then un-load your horse and get them settled in.

  19. Day of, get ready and warm-up your horse in a timely fashion. • Make sure you don’t wear all of your good show clothing when you tack up. You don’t want them to get dirty!

  20. It’s Show Time! If you have a pattern, run through it in your head. Make sure you listen for your class to be called and enter promptly when the time comes. • Remember the Judge will be Watching!

  21. Once the class has been judged it’s time to line up, if your in at an English Pleasure show! Your number will be called when you win a ribbon! • At a Dressage Show you will leave the arena on a loose rein at A. Then you will either wait for your next test, return to the warm-up ring, or go back and un-tack. Results are posted at/near the registration booth. • Only Championship Shows have special award ceremonies. Where you will line up and even get victory laps.

  22. Handling Your Nerves

  23. Be Prepaired! • Be Prepared way before the show by having your movements and test trained to the point that they are as so easy to do you could do them blind folded. • Night Before, make sure you lay out all of your clothes and gear too. Eat a healthy dinner, and go to bed early. • Day of, Pack all your stuff in the car. Eat a healthy Breakfast (Eat a Banana an hour before, they calm the nerves.) Be early or at least on time. Get your horse ready for shipping, groom, & check braids. • Get to the show at least two hours before your first test if you don’t stay over night. So you can sign-in, get ready, and warm-up!

  24. Show Day Tips for Nerves • Keeping your self busy will help your mind from wondering too much and making your self even more nervous. • Remember that you have trained as much as possible and that you will not fix anything the day of the show. So just take what you get, horses have bad days too, and have fun! • Also I promise the Judge is not out to get you. They want to see you succeed just as much as I do.

  25. Lets Show! Now that you have some knowledge under your belt you can get started in the right direction. I encourage you to read more on: General Rules Tack & Clothing Rules How not to get Disqualified What is required of you by the Judge. Handling Show Nerves How to Braid and anything else that would benefit you and make showing easier on you.
