  2. The Iguanodon was the first discovered and recorded dinosaur. Gideon Algernon Mantell named it the Iguanodon in 1825.

  3. The Iguanodon’s name means Iguana tooth. It is cool because it has a spike on its thumb. The Iguanodon has 4 fingers plus a conical thumb spike on each hand to defend himself.

  4. The Iguanodon is 16 feet [49m] tall, 30-40 feet [9-12] long, and weighs 3-5 tons.

  5. It eats nipped cycads and other prehistoric plants. Its diet is plants.

  6. This dinosaur lived in the early to middle Cretaceous period - 140 to 110 million years ago in Great Britain, Mongolia, North America, and Europe.
