A REGIONAL PUBLIC POLICY TO BOOST ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN URBAN POOR AREAS • 1,3 million of people live in 157 urban poor areas (11% of global population of Ile de France • Almost 50% of young people are unemployed, in few sites (in the north of Paris), against 8% in the region of Ile de France • Low level of qualifications, low power of purchase, high rate of unemployed people • A high concentration of immigrants

This initiative has 2 global objectives : to facilitate the linking, during 6 months, between people who have an idea of business and the public financial, technical resources able to help these 3 D’s people (discouraged, disconnected, disavantaged) to turn their ideas into projects ; « CREARIF QUARTIERS »A BUSINESS MEETING

  3. To promote entrepreneurship among these 3 D’s people, whose desire to be self-employed is bigger than anywhere else. A survey lead by the ADIE organisation (involved in micro credit support) in 2006 showed that more than 50% of young people living in poor areas are yearning to create their own business, probably because they do not find a sustainable job. « CREARIF QUARTIERS »A BUSINESS MEETING

Application to the program made the following possible, respecting a process model : - meet local partners (in order to get technical and financial aid) - benefit from free evaluation of their projects - have access to the relevant information as for business creation; learn about the different support devices within workshops organized by the partners of business creation. - meet other people with different projects « CREARIF QUARTIERS »A BUSINESS MEETING

  5. This initiative launched in 2009 has been renewed in 2010 and 2011. Each business meeting concerns an average of 300 peoples : 70 among them participate to the final day during which they meet counsellors providing them advices, supports. Then, an average of 15 persons of them are rewarded. Theses rewards which consist in training programmes, personal advices, networks with other entrepreneurs contribute to promote an entrepreneurial mindset. « CREARIF QUARTIERS »A BUSINESS MEETING
