  1. Water Heater Installation Guide: Don’t Get Left in the Cold this Season O wning a home is not all gardens and backyard BBQ’s. It takes time, money, and resources to keep everything running properly. But, accidents happen, and they happen with great frequency. Things break and need to be repaired and/or replaced. The water heater is an essential part of any home. But, like everything else, it may need repairs over time. There will come a time when the water heater needs to be repaired or even replaced depending on its condition. All of this is a time consuming and expensive task, but it is worth it. Why is the water heater important? The water heater does exactly what the name suggests. It is a device that heats water above its initial temperature. The water is generally heated with natural gas, and in some cases, solid fuels. Water heaters usually last around 10 to 15 years before they need to be replaced. Repairs will likely be needed in between, but you should be able to at least get a decade out of your water heater. Types of water heaters: There are two main types of water heaters found in most homes in the United States and the United Kingdom. Both types offer hot water upon turning on the faucet. Heat will get lost as the water moves through the pipes, but the heating is continuous, which compensates for that loss of energy. Storage or Tank Water Heater The tank water heater is the most common water heater out of the two. It is a cylindrical tank that continuously heats water. The heat source tends to vary between natural gas, propane, electricity, or even oil. The size of household tanks ranges from 20 to 100 gallons. When you use the faucet, the hot water is brought from the top of the water heater and through the pipes. As the hot water flows to the shower or faucets, cold water flows to the bottom of the tank to be heated to replace what was used. This process repeats continuously.

  2. Tankless Water Heater: This water heater does not have a tank. The water is heated as it passes through the heater, instantaneously. This type of water heater can be centralized or have more than one point of use. Choosing the Right Water Heater Where you live is going to play a huge role in what type of water heater is best for your home. Natural gas is the cheaper option as a heat source, but it has to be offered in your area. At Home Repair and Installation Water heater installation should be left to the professionals because a lot can go wrong if done incorrectly.
