  1. Some Curious Facts About The Usage Of Hemp The reduction of hemp to a simply “drug-addictive plant” is a common mistake that people should avoid. Just as worrisome is the fact that many do not know the transcendence of hemp since its discovery many centuries ago. Hemp was known to be one of the first domesticated plants in United States. In fact, scientific studies have shown that besides its industrial and medicinal usages, it is one of the fastest growing biomasses in existence. Studying this fascinating plant is more interesting than most people realize. It is impressive that some of its usages has been linked to the elaboration of textiles, biodegradable plastics, healthy food, and fuels, but when we see beyond these elements, we are awed by its many more usages. The discovery of hemp dates to many centuries ago. “Shennong”, a famous individual within the Chinese mythology was credited with the discovery of several medicinal plants, hemp included. To discover them, he tried each and every one of these on himself to see their possible effects. Furthermore, to discover their medicinal power, he even had to consume about 70 different brews in one day. Hemp was firstly used to deal with a wide variety of things. In fact, about 80% of all textiles and clothes were made from hemp until the 1820s, when cotton gin was discovered and exploited. However, for centuries, 90% of ships’ sails were made of hemp fiber. Likewise, the first Bibles, maps, the first drafts of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States were made from hemp. Art was not exempt of the usage of hemp. Rembrandt’s, Gainsborough’s, Van Gogh’s canvas paintings were done on hemp linen. Also, paints and varnishes were previously done from hemp seed oil until 1937. It is said that about 58,000 tons of hemp seeds were used as paint sources in the U. S. only in 1935. Even though the restriction of possession, consumption and selling is now a reality in most places, knowing about the historic usages of hemp is both curious and interesting.

  2. Furthermore, many people do not know that an green strategy put in place to prevent deforestation was indeed the making of paper from hemp fiber. This alternative has its fundaments on the fact that an acre of hemp produces the exact same amount of paper that four acres of forest. This way, it is better to exploit hemp. Some mechanism where employed last century but to no avail. Yet it is still curious to know that in 1916, the U.S. Government predicted that by 1940 all the paper in the country should have been produced from hemp. Many of these facts demonstrate that hemp is a very beneficial plant for human kind. Denying its usages is not only stupid but also conformist. Nonetheless, avoid getting into trouble if your business consumes and/or works with hemp. Hire a hemp collection agency to assist you in how to best deal with local legislation.
