  1. Welcome to AP Biology!9.1.11 Entry – Please find a seat of your choice & do the following: Place bags under your table Have a pen/pencil out Introduce yourself to your neighbor and wait for the signal to listen.

  2. Who are we? Take the paper and fold it into thirds, make a “tent.” Write your first name clearly on one third of the paper with the markers. Then, on another section of your “tent” draw a picture of a water molecule. Teacher introductions:

  3. Materials • Textbook - Biology, Campbell & Reese 6th ed. • Supplement Material - Taylor, Martha R. Student Study Guide for Biology. 2001 6th ed. *Keep both texts at home unless I tell you to bring them! • 3-ring binder or a spiral notebook w/ folder • Lab book – bound composition notebook • scientific calculator (recommended)

  6. Inquiry – Moving Milk Demo – listen carefully Discuss - What happened here? Why? 1st come up with a manipulated variable to try and answer your question. 2nd do one trial run, just like I did. 3rd test your manipulated variable… how did it change the molecules behavior. Rinse out cups and stack on the back counter. Wipe up desks if needed.

  7. Inquiry – Moving Milk Discuss – your results. What was your manipulated variable. What is your next question? What would you test? “Without uncertainty, thinking is stillborn.” J. Dewey Exit – How does this quote apply to the biological setting.
