  2. Introduction • Man is made in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27). • God has set eternity in our hearts (Ecclesiastes 3:10-11). • Though we cannot fully understand, we marvel at God’s ways and wisdom (Romans 11:33-36).

  3. Eternal Leadership • In contrast with leaders among men, who are flawed and frail, God affords eternal guidance (Deuteronomy 33:26-29; Romans 16:25-27). • Eternity is characteristic of the entire Godhead (Psalm 90:1-2; 1 Timothy 1:17): including the Father (Isaiah 9:6; 57:15), Son (Micah 5:2; John 8:56-59), and Holy Spirit (Hebrews 9:13-14).

  4. Eternal Life • God offers eternal life to those who believe (John 3:16) and obey (John 3:36). • Jesus provides eternal sustenance: He is the water of life (John 4:7-14) and the bread of life (John 6:27, 48-51).

  5. Eternal Covenant • In contrast with men, whose dominion is temporal, God has established an eternal covenant (Isaiah 55:1-3; Jeremiah 32:36-40; Hebrews 13:20-21). • The kingdom/church of Jesus Christ will stand forever (Daniel 2:44-45; Matthew 16:17-19; 28:18-20).

  6. Eternal Reward • God has promised the faithful an eternal habitation (2 Corinthians 5:1-4), eternal comfort (2 Thessalonians 2:16-17), and eternal glory (1 Peter 5:8-11).

  7. Conclusion • The hope of eternal life is found in Jesus Christ (Titus 1:1-4; 1 John 2:25). • Are you living so as to enjoy this promise (Acts 13:46; 2 Thessalonians 1:5-12)? • Will you receive the wages of sin or the free gift of God (Romans 6:16-23)?
