A Brief History • 1992 ThaiSarn was established • First Thai Social/Scientific, Academic and Research Network • Administered and supported by NECTEC • About 40 institute members in 1994 • 1995 ThaiSarn Phase 2 started • Initiate SchoolNet project • Up to 70 members nation-wide • 2 Mbps Link to SiNet, Japan • 1996 SchoolNet was officially launched by NECTEC • 1997 UniNet was initiated in 1997 • 2002 ThaiSarn Phase 3 started • 2004 ThaiREN (ThaiSarn + UniNet + …)

  9. International Network Connectivity To USA • Currently connect to international RENs through Japan and the USA • Will be extended to Malaysia • Will be extended to other neighboring countries (ICT-corridor project)
