  5. Just want to express a big thank you for the work that Karin Dreany did for us leading the rowdy band of finance folks thru the process mapping!  She patiently tried to understand our jargon and was able to identify several opportunities that we can work on to get us to our goal turn around time! • Thanks very much!  Couldn’t have done it without you! • Cheryl Cowden

  6. Kudos to Rose Gelinas, RD Registered Dietitian Nephrology Services • Rose Gelinas, in collaboration with the Canadian Association of Nephrology Dietitians, has co-authored a cookbook specific to the needs of people living with chronic kidney disease. This non-profit initiative serves to support people living with chronic kidney disease in our community. • Kidney Friendly Cooking is available through Dietitians of Canada.

  7. I want to share with you the fantastic experience • I had with a “token of appreciation”.   • I gave one of the tokens to Laurie Laronde and explained to her that these tokens are intended to be a “pay it forward” and that we are to give them to someone for a job well done, to be passed on by the receiver to someone s/he appreciates. • I thanked Laurie her for her tireless work championing and supporting staff safety; ensuring we meet our regulatory requirements and being instrumental in setting a culture of safety that as an organization we are developing a reputation as safety leaders.   • Just yesterday one of our supervisors conveyed that a representative of HSN that she was speaking with shared that they heard we are “very strict about safety”.  This is a great reputation to have as it truly shows how much we care about our people.  Laurie plays such a huge role in setting this tone. • Danielle Baker

Kudos to Karen Sykes and Scott Aitken for developing a plan to integrate the use of care items (geri-chair, scratch mits, ear plugs to simulate hearing impairment, goggles to simulate vision impairment etc.) into their teaching to make the concept of approach to personal care and the agitation that can stem from it more realistic for our staff participating in the course.   • Great job Karen and Scott! - Carolyn Hepting • I am writing to tell you how much I love working with Cindy [MacWilliams].  She is our contact at Nip U for student placements at the hospital.  She is very efficient, quick to email me back and really goes out of her way to make sure I am aware of what is happening  with respect to student placements - especially as we try to finalize the specialty area in yr 4.  She is very professional, and collaborative.  • Tammie McParland,RN,MN, PhD student assistant Professor Nipissing University
