  5. What is Trimble Access field software? • Trimble Access is a collection of applications providing survey tools in the field and web based services to the office and field. • These applications are installed on: • Your field devices • Your office computers • Trimble Servers

  6. SERVER • Trimble Connected • Community • Trimble Survey Web • Services Internet Connection Internet Connection • FIELD • TrimbleAccess Menu • General Survey • Internet Setup • AccessSync • GNSS Planning • Roads • Tunnels • OFFICE • Trimble Access Installation Manager • Trimble Access Drive • Office Software Cabled Connection

  7. Elements of Trimble Access • Base Software • Specialized Applications • Trimble Access Services • Trimble Connected Community

  8. Trimble Access Installation Manager • The Trimble Access Installation Manager automatically installs and updates controllers with the latestsoftware versions that you are entitled to. • The first time you install or update Trimble Access software, you must download and install the Installation Manager onto the office computer. • For subsequent installations or updates, you do not need to re-install the Installation Manager. If updates are available, this application updates itself automatically. • The office computer must have an Internet connection for installations and updates.

  9. Exercise: Installation Download it now from your Trimble Connected Community Organization. • www.myconnectedsite.com • Log in • Browse to the Organization Administration page on the Trimble Access Home site. • Download using the link in the “Field Software and Office Updates” pane. Tip:Each time you log into the Trimble Connected CommunityTM, you can see on pages provided by Trimble information on the latest versions of software for the system. Note: You can also install from www.trimble.com/taim

  10. Trimble Access Installation Manager • Once connected, the Installation Manager reads the serial number of the device and determines what software the controller is licensed for. It compares the software installed on the controller with the latest versions available on the Trimble hosted server and provides a list of available updates for the Office and Field. • The user then selects the software they want to install or update. • If a component is already up-to-date with the latest version, it is not available to select. • If a component is compulsory, the text is maroon and you cannot de-select the item. • The Installation Manager downloads the latest versions from the Trimble server and then installs them on the controller.

  11. Exercise: Installation Install Trimble Access on your controller. • Run the Trimble Access Installation Manager from the Start / Programs menu on the office computer. • Connect the controller to the office computer using ActiveSync • Select the software that you want to install or update on the connected controller: • Click Start. The Trimble Access Installation Manager downloads the license file and the selected components to the office computer and then installs them onto the connected controller.

  12. Trimble Access Installation Manager • Get access to the latest features with minimal effort • Allows easy installation by remote staff which can help reduce downtime on equipment

  16. Logging in • Logging in enables you to: • Separate and distinguish your files from those of other people who use the same controller. • Easily manage data between particular field crews within an organization. • Logging in is required by the AccessSync service to: • Authenticate access to services from the field. • Ensure that files are transferred to the correct controllers in the field, and to the correct organization, project site and folder location in the office. • Enable you to pick up any controller and access your field project data.

  17. Logging in • *1All Trimble Access files will be stored in a folder under [\Trimble Data\<username>].

  18. Exercise: Log in Log in on your controller using offline mode • From the Trimble Access menu, tap Login • Select the “Offline” as the Login mode. • Enter your Trimble Connected Community username (Member ID). You do not need a password. • Why enter your TCC member id? You are logging in offline, but we will use online services (AccessSync) later. The username is used to set up your data folder and when you try to use online services, this will be used for authentication. • Your TCC organization name is automatically entered in the Organization field. • Tap Next. • If you have not previously logged in online, you can review the user settings and then tap Finish. Explore! Scroll to view applications, Tap the Trimble, help, notifications and internet icons.

  32. The Trimble AccessSync Service

  33. The Trimble AccessSync Service • Real time: • Compares the files in the selected project folders on the controller with the folder on Trimble Connected Community every 30 seconds. • If there is a file on the controller which does not exist on the server, or if the files are different then the changes will be uploaded • Flexible: • Uses any internet connection: ActiveSync, WiFi, or cellular

  34. The Trimble AccessSync Service • Secure: • To send or receive a file you must be successfully logged into the system • You can choose which TCC project site to send your data to, and who has access to that site • Safe: • Files are not overwritten but renamed if there are duplicates

  35. The Trimble AccessSync Service • Smart: • Only selected file types are uploaded, • increases the efficiency of transfer • reduces cost of transferring unnecessary files. • Only changes are uploaded, not the whole file • If the internet connection is lost, the files will be uploaded when the internet connection is regained. AccessSync will keep trying to send the files until the transfer is successful. • GPS corrections take priority over file upload.

  36. The Trimble AccessSync Service • Seamless: • There’s no need to keep choosing when to send updates, changes are automatically sent in the background while you continue with your work.

  37. The Trimble AccessSync Service Alerts indicate internet connection status and if new files are available Indicates that 4 files ready to synchronize but not selected to continually update Indicates folder from another site. Select to reassign to currently selected site and sync Indicates that data in username folder is synchronized and will continually update Trimble AccessSync status information

  38. Exercise: Send Data from the office to the field using TCC. In the Office • Log in to the Trimble Connected Community and then browse to the project site to send files from. • To transfer files to a single user, expand the folder name of that user and then select the To the Field folder. • Do one of the following: • To transfer a single file, select Upload Files and then browse to the required file. • To transfer multiple files, select to download an FTP executable file. Download and run the executable file to open a browser window into which you can directly copy multiple files. In the field • Log in to the Trimble Access software. To ensure that the AccessSync service is set up correctly: • Select the Online login mode. • Use the correct Trimble Connected Community username (Member ID) and password. • Select the appropriate Trimble Connected Community site. This determines where your files will be synchronized. • On the controller, start the AccessSync service. • Ensure the appropriate folders are selected to synchronize

  39. Exercise: Send Data from the office to the field using Trimble Access Drive. In the Office • Use Access Drive to connect to your Trimble Connected Community organization. • In Windows Explorer, browse to the mapped drive (by default, this is the W:\ drive), and then to the project folder from which to send the files. • To transfer files to a single user, expand the folder name of that user and then select the To the Field folder.

  40. Exercise Send Data from the office to multiple field crews. In the Office • Using either TCC or Trimble Access Drive, browse to the project site to send files from. • To transfer files to all users in the project, select the To all Users folder. • Upload file/s to be sent. In the Field • Log in to the Trimble Access software. Click Next. • Step 2: Enter recipient details to determine who the notification emails are sent to. Click Next. • Step 3: Enter a subject line and message body to determine what the notification email will say. Click Finish.

  44. The Trimble AccessSync Service Real time information and data exchange between the field and office: • Field users don’t need to return to the office to deliver files • Office managers can send field workers new or updated files • Field users can request QA/assistance of their data from an office worker Faster turn around of data from the field to the office and vice versa = reduced downtime
