  7. Each side of your health triangle is equally important to good health. • If one side of the triangle is small, it may decrease the size of the other sides. • For example: A teen who skips meals and doesn’t get enough sleep may feel irritable and have trouble concentrating in school. • By working to keep the sides balanced you will be on your way to being a healthy person.

  8. Wellness • Total health • To achieve wellness you need to make good health part of your daily routine. • Having good daily habits now will have positive long term effects on your health and wellness.

  9. Examples of triangles that are NOT equal:

  10. 4 Health Triangles: • Each triangle reflects choices each person has made. Read each person’s short description and draw their triangle:

  11. Billy • Billy is an excellent student. He spends most of his free time on his computer, so he doesn’t have much time for his family or friends. Billy keeps physically fit by jogging alone several times each week.

  12. Karla: • Karla spends a lot of time with her friends. They watch movies, listen to music, and go shopping. Karla gets good grades except in her physical education class. She doesn’t get much physical activity and can’t keep up with the rest of the class.

  13. Raj: • Raj loves sports and plays on the soccer and basketball teams. He doesn’t do very well with his schoolwork, though. Raj tries to avoid his problems by playing video games with his friends.

  14. Chantelle: • Chantelle has a few close friends and sees them mostly on weekends. Most weeknights she is busy with homework and spending time with her family. She bikes to school every day, and twice a week she has gymnastics class.

  15. Make your health triangle • Write down 3 statements about your health for each side of the health triangle. -Based on what you wrote down, draw your triangle.
