Ross Taylor Reveals Their Ideal Preparations For WTC Final New Zealand’skey batsman Ross Taylor has recently said that his team’s preparations for the inaugural edition of the ICC World Test Championship final had been “ideal" after a series win against England as well. Image source by twitter However, they are full of confidence after beating Joe Root’s team 1-0 in the two-match Test series while Virat Kohli-led Indian team didn’t get any series prior to the summit clash. And, Indian players have only played an intra-squad practice game after undergoing quarantine both at home and in England as well. Notably, the World Test Championship (WTC) final will take place from Friday in Southampton. “Ideal preparation, having two Test matches against Englandin these conditions," said Taylor. “I think we’re very lucky that our CEO managed to get these matches and obviously the guys gained some match preparation in these conditions. Couldn’t think of anything better." “I think it probably gives our players a little bit more confidence but India have got a very balanced (squad) and their depth has been amazing," he further added. “I’m sure the warm-up game they had would have been like a Test match." However, New Zealand recently reclaimed the number-one Test ranking from India after their convincing series win against England by 1-0 but Ross Taylor said that Virat Kohli’s team will be tough to beat. “India have been the world number one side and kept that bar very high for a long period of time that everyone around the world has had to try and catch up to," he said. On the other hand, Indian batsman Cheteshwar Pujara has said that they were at a disadvantage compared to New Zealand but he believes they are well-prepared for the final as well.
