  1. Job Club, 7-9-19Understanding how Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) is effecting my job search

  2. A.I.What is it, and what is it doing in my job search? A.I. stands for Artificial Intelligence • “…Though companies approaches to matching worker and employer may differ, all agreed that the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning would streamline the complexity of matching work to talent and that the job search and recruiting experience of the future will involve more face time and less resume spamming.” • Karstan Strous, Forbes 2018

  3. How does AI work? “Today job and talent search is inefficient. Job seekers must send out many applications to find a position and recruiters must sort through a high volume of candidates before finding one that is a fit.” “The work on AI that we’re doing helps us better understand what ‘fit’ actually means in a way that we can predict it. If we can predict it, we can make the right matches faster and the wrong matches less often.” • Karstan Strous, Forbes 2018

  4. How will I see AI in my job search? • Chat Bots: • Chat Bots are everywhere. Most website have them asking how they can help you on every page…It can kind of be annoying—but don’t always ignore them. • There are chat bots that can act as personal recruiters like: • Stella, Mosaic, Wade and Wendy, Newton, and Woo • Chat Bots also exist on most corporate career websites. Companies are getting much smarter about building relationships with ALL people looking at their career pages—regardless if they are a match for current openings. Take advantage of this and give all corporate websites your contact info and background if asked.

  5. How will I see AI in my job search? Video Interviewing: In the past companies needed to spend a lot of time and energy doing screening interviews over the phone. Today, companies are using the One-Way Interview to do their screening for them. In addition, they are using more assessment tools, automated background checks, and even automated interview scheduling to increase their speed-to-hire. WEDL knows video interviewing can be awkward, and many times, a surprise in your application process.

  6. How will I see AI in my job search? Text Interviewing: Communication via mobile devices is continuing to grow. 79% of Millennials use their phones to apply. GenExers 73% and Boomers 57%. Companies will start to do mini interviews via texting, gathering basic info regarding availability, salary requirements, and geography. Glass Door, 2019

  7. Tips for job seekers to prepare for AI in their job search • Have a strong online presence. Create a strong linkedIn Profile, Consider building a second Social Medial profile as well like Twitter, or Facebook. Have resumes be public on job boards. • Utilize new software that give you private text, cell, and email like Google. This way your real personal info is not getting taken over by your job search. Remember-Texting is going to be a huge new way employers communicate in the future. • Be prepared for video interviews. • Like it or not, AI is watching us. Machines, not humans, are learning what types of candidates do best in jobs. They look at much more than what is on a resume, but fully understand skills, job titles, company names, industry trends, history of other candidates with similar backgrounds, skills, and education. • AI will allow companies to find a much more qualifies candidate much faster. Job Seekers need to allow themselves to be seen so they can be identified as a qualified candidate.
