Before a new miner begins work at the mine the miner must be provided with no less than 4 hours of training in 7 designated subjects which must address site-specific hazards. • A Site Tour is a requirement for mine operators. • Independent contractors are not required to use this method in new miners training. However contractors may receive a site tour during their site specific hazard training. Training Plan Development New Miner Training

  10. The teaching Method “practice under close observation” . (Observing and instructing New Miner as He Works) is an excellent training method. Most operations will include a lot of hours under this subject. Must be done by a competent person. M

Every subject listed in the plan requires a general description of: • Teaching methods • Course materials to be used • Evaluation procedures • Approximate time • The above requirements are met by the selections made (check boxes) in this sample plan.

The Sample Plan offers a sheet for “Other Subjects” for each program. If other subjects are desired, list the subject and check the appropriate boxes above.

  16. Training Plan Development Newly-Hired Experienced Miner Training • Miner must receive training in the 7 required subjects prior to starting work. No require time limits.

Training Plan Development Newly-Hired Experienced Miner Training • No later than 60 days after a newly hired experienced miner begins work at the mine training must be provided in the following subject: • Instruction and demonstration on the use, care, and maintenance of self-rescue and respiratory devices

  20. Annual Refresher Training Program

  21. Annual refresher training must include: Instruction on changes at the mine that could adversely affect the miner’s health or safety. The changes could be equipment, environment or process. Training Plan Development Annual Refresher Training

  22. Refresher training must also address other safety and health subjects that are relevant to mining operations at the mine. No minimum amount of time per session of training Training Plan Development Annual Refresher Training

  34. MISTAKE! This form is found in the earlier printed Starter Kits. The form did not have a row for Duration of Training. You may draw a row in for the duration, label the row and record the course lengths. This may be the best solution to a record already filled out.   37. Each training session must be recorded after each session is completed. Note the different days of each subject. This training record must be certified after the training is complete. The deadline is 3/30/01 for certification. Subjects are listed in the Plan Total time is equal to or greater than 8 hours. Records of Training
