  3. Key goal: to reduce hunger • Healthy food for those living in poverty: • affordable & quality food • easy to access - local • regular and reliable supply • provide food adults and children will eat!

  4. Headline challenges • Scale & pricing: large quantities for low prices; supermarkets and ‘loss leaders’ • How best to join up those who are hungry with food banks, and food banks with community food distribution enterprises and growing projects OR create another model • The vast majority of initiatives are small &/or dependent on grants: is a self-sustaining social enterprise model possible? • Planning permission at snails pace
