  3. Any content lesson (Ex. Language Lesson to teach French) • How-to-instructions • Self-guided tours • Storytelling • Accessibility for students whose reading skills are limited • Your own radio show • Relay important messages to students What can you do with a podcast?

  4. iPod • Cell Phones • MP3 Players • Xbox and other gamers • TiVo • Computer Portable media players

  5. A recording device • Software to create an MP3 audio or video file (ex. http://audacity.sourceforge.net, Free) • Access to the internet • An application that lets you listen to the podcast, such as iTunes, Juice, feedburner also called podcatchers Hardware & software needed

  6. FREE audio playing software such as Audacity.com • FREE RSS feed such as feedburner.com • $-iPod with a Griffin iTalk or any digital recorder • $$-Office Studio with higher-end microphone and computer software • $$$- Professional recording studio Cost

  7. 5 minutes if you are good with technology and your content is minimal • Student projects usually take 3-4 weeks to produce • Teachers should possess intermediate computer skills and know the technical aspects of the production process before trying to teach the skills to students Time allocation

Advantages Disadvantages • Listen to exactly what, when, and where you want • Another education tool • Family members can stay up to date on classrooms • Study support-repeated listening and review • 24/7 Education • Students learn technical skills • Saves time accessing information • Improves public speaking skills • Audio quality • No 2-way interaction or audience participation • No access to hardware • Some initial training is needed • Lost in a “sea of information” The pros win!!! Yea!!!
