  17. Page 16. Biographical Sketch Entry Text for a Biographical Sketch can be entered in the field on this page. However, it’s recommended to create a document with a word processor and upload it on the next page by clicking “Transfer File.”

  18. Page 17. Bio Sketch Upload Page Specifics to prepare Biographical Sketches and other aspects of the proposal are found in the Grant Proposal Guide (GPG). Details of Bio Sketches are found at: http://www.nsf.gov/pubs/policydocs/pappguide/nsf10_1/gpg_2.jsp#IIC2f You can create the Bio Sketches with a word processor and upload the file on this page. FastLane will automatically convert it to a PDF. Other items on the Form Preparation Page are completed in a like manner as was shown here for Bio Sketches.

  19. Page 18. PDF Compliance and Proofreading Results Upon uploading a file to FastLane it is checked for compliance and converted to a PDF file. You will be asked to proofread the PDF and accept or resubmit. Click on “Accept” button if satisfied with PDF file.

  20. Page 19. Page displayed after accepting results Click on “Go Back” button.

  21. Page 20. Updated Biographical Sketch Information Note the information now indicates a two-page PDF file is included in proposal. Click “Go Back” once again.

  22. Page 21. Updated Form Preparation Page Note the Form Preparation Page now indicates a Biographical Sketch has been saved. The process illustrated for the Cover Sheet and a Biographical Sketch should be repeated for the other proposal forms listed on this page.

  23. Page 22. Final Actions Once all of the forms and information requested on the Form Preparation Page have been completed and submitted, FastLane will run a Check on your proposal. When complete and checked by FastLane, the final step in the submission is to click the “Allow SRO Access” button. This allows your campus official to approve your submission. This is essential to the process.

  24. Final Tips and Recommendations Begin navigating and learning your way around FastLane well in advance –NOT a couple of days before the submission deadline. Start uploading completed documents as you’re learning FastLane. As you upload documents, FastLane will perform a “PDF Compliance Check.” You must proofread and accept the results of the PDFs. When in doubt about a particular feature or item in FastLane, use the help and information links imbedded into the various FastLane pages. Make sure your Sponsored Projects Office (SPO) or Sponsored Research Office (SRO) knows you’re submitting a proposal. They must approve the final submission. Refer to the TUES Program Solicitation and the Grant Proposal Guided (GPG) for additional information.
