  2. Entrance Ticket Essential Question: How can I use linear equations to model a cell phone plan? Entrance Ticket: What do you know about your cell phone plan? (Ex: minutes used per month, how much you pay per month, etc…)If you do not have a cell phone plan, then think of the cell phone plan you would have.

  3. What is this project about? • The project that I did was about creating a cell phone company. • The cell phone company must include a company name, three phone plans, three executive piecewise functions, a linear graph, and an Excel document.

  4. Important Terms • A piecewise function consists of two linear equations that can be used on a linear graph which changes slopes at an exact point. • A linear equation is an equation that is in ‘mx+b’ form where the ‘m’ is the slope and the ‘b’ is the y-intercept and the graph is a straight line. • The y-intercept is where the line is crossing the y-axis on the graph. • Excel is a Microsoft spreadsheet program that can mainly be used for money transactions.

  5. Microsoft Excel For this project, we were also required to create an Excel document to present our yearly profits. I will now show you my Excel spreadsheet.

  6. My Cell Phone Plan*Note* *Worked with a partner on this project* My company’s name is ‘Good Bye Pagers! Mobile’. My Cell phone company consisted of three plans. • 1. F&B Plan, 450 minutes for $40.($1 per min. for each additional min.) • 2. Free 2 Go Plan, 700 minutes for $50.($0.01 per min. for each additional min. ) • 3. Two Pathways Plan, $0.25 per minute, you choose the amount of minutes.($1 per min. for each additional min.)

  7. Piecewise Functions I will now be demonstrating how to work on piecewise functions. You may take notes on the back of your sheet and ask questions.

  8. Answer To My Essential Question “How can I use linear equations to model a cell phone plan?” During this particular project, I learned that linear equations are the first basic step to model a cell phone plan. You must be able to use linear equations correctly or the linear graph will be inaccurate which will also make your cell phone plan inaccurate.

  9. Exit Ticket If you were to choose any of my three plans, which one would you choose and why?
