  2. The Problem After discussing many things we felt were issues in our campus community, the one issue we all had issues with was.... Parking! Our original concept was a parking garage app that tells you how many spaces are on each floor of each parking garage. We then sent out a survey to gather interest in our idea.

  3. 96.8% Of students surveyed said that they would use our app.

  4. 79.6% Of students surveyed said that they would pay a fee to reserve parking spots in the event that they were running late to class.

  5. With this validation of our idea…. VolPark was born! Features of VolPark: • App with real-time data of vacant spaces in parking garage. • Lights above each spot to signify if the spot was open. • Special “reserved floors” in garages for students to rent spaces on.

Possible Issues for Project • Timing • Close each garage systematically over the summer for the update. • Plenty of warning given to the students and staff on campus for the summer. • Cost • According to the Revised FY 2018-2019 Budget, the UT system spent $168.5 million on public service projects.
