  2. 1st Step Prepare • Determine the tools needed. • Plan a visit to the rocket to take measurements. • Review trigonometric ratio problem solving.

  3. 2nd Step Take Field Trip • On the field trip, take measurements of: • Distance between some point and the base of the rocket (b) • Angle formed by this distance and an imaginary line from this point to the top of the rocket (<A).

  4. 3rd Step Calculate the height. • Use data to calculate the height. tan A = height of rocket (a)/ distance (b) or tan A = a/b ora = b (tan A)

  5. 4th Step Convert the results to metric units. • Using internet http://www.onlineconversion.com, convert the height to metric units.
