  1. Lesson 1.7: Equations with Integers Standards: NS 1.2, AF 2.1, AF 4.2 Objective: Solve one-step equations

  2. Addition/Subtraction Multiplication/Division m (-2) (-2) = 8 -2 Objective - To solve simple equations involving integers. x + 8 = 2 -3x = 21 -3 -3 -8 -8 x = -6 x = -7 y - 13 = -4 +13 +13 y = 9 m = -16

  3. Quick Draw for Points! • You will have 30-60 seconds to solve each problem. • The text is Equations with Integers

  4. Solve. 1) 3) 2) 4)

  5. Translate each sentence and solve. 1) The difference of x and 3 is the same as -19. 2) The quotient of y and -5 equals 10.

  6. Profit • Profit is how much extra you make. • So, Profit equals how much you made minus how much it cost you to pay for bills. • Profit = Income - Expenses

  7. Profit Profit = Income - Expenses Palo sells 40 lasers for $5 each. If a case of 40 lasers costs him $75, how much profit was made? Profit = Income - Expenses Profit = 40($5) - $75 Profit = $200 - $75 Profit = $125

  8. Profit ABC Company has annual expenses of $3200. If they are to make a profit of $4800 this year, what income will they need? Profit = Income - Expenses x $4800 = - $3200 + $3200 + $3200 $8000 = x Income = $8000
