  1. Photonic Band-Gap on Dispersion Curves of Propagation Modes of A Two Concentric Core Optical Fiber A.Luis Ramos, E.Martí-Panameño and L.C. Gómez-Pavón Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla

  2. Introduction • Optical Fibers With no Conventional Index Profile • Multiclad Fibers • Photonics Cristal Fiber • Concentrical Layer • Segmentada • etc.

  3. Introduction • Optical Fibers With no Conventional Index Profile • Each fiber has own characteristics, of geometry, refractive index profile and obvious each one has particular applications. (Laser, landslide of dispersion, amplifiers, etc.)

  4. Two Concentric Core Optical Fiber

  5. We need to obtain the modal structure of the fiber (dispersion curves of the TE and TM modes) Formulation of the Problem

  8. The characteristic equation is derived by matching, using continuityconditions, the tangential components E, Ez, and H , Hz in each boundary. This provides a system of twelve linear equations for the twelve unknown factors. When using the continuity conditions of Ez and Hz, we can eliminate AE, AH, AE, HE and HH. This permits us to reduce our system of equations to one of 8X8. In order to avoid trivial solutions the determinant of the given system should vanish. This requirement yields the mode condition that determines the propagation constant. Descripcion de Solucion
