  1. P09321 Automated Medicine Dispenser Justin Zagorski (IE) – Project Lead Rebecca Jaiven (EE) – Lead Engineer Michael Boquard (CE) Matthew Jones (ME) Felix Feliz (ME) Shuaib Mansoori (EE) Dr. Phillips (EE) - Faculty Guide Dr. Hanzlik (ME) – Faculty Advisor John Veenstra (PJ Solutions) - Customer

  2. Project Description • Robust prototype to allow 2 patients to have a week’s worth of 6 different pills automatically dispense on a time-basis with the scan of a fingerprint • Customer: Anyone who takes medication on a time-basis and desires to keep their location in a safe and secure environment • Key Customer needs/Engineering Specs: • 360° Security™ & SmartCartridges™ • Laptop Interface & GUI • Properly and reliably dispense medication • Biometric Access

  3. Design Concept USB/Power Input Empty Return Area Cylinder Holders Collapsible Legs Dispense Ramp

  4. System Architecture

  5. Technical Risk Assessment • Risk: Incorrect or no medication reaching user • Dispense from incorrect location • Failure to dispense • Incorrect medication fill • False positive/negative from biometric scanner • Reviewed results with project team and customer • Mitigations: • Double check programming/circuitry • Person refilling held accountable: datalogging, pick list • Research and purchase best scanner within budget.

  6. Current State of Design • Design meets all customer needs except: • Interfacing with a network • Design meets all engineering specs • Schedule: A week or two behind so we can research a few new dispense detection methods • Confident with design going onto the next steps • Mitigations: • Not enough time for network, propose for next iteration • Catch up with research over spring break

  7. Milestones • March 20th: Remaining parts and components ordered • March 27th: Housing complete • April 3rd: PCB Board completed • April 24th: GUI and programming complete • May 1st: Finish system integration • May 15th: Documentation finished, final project reviews
