Why is this effective? 2. Diction-Word choice What unique word choices does the narrator use in the story? 3. Imagery- Word “pictures” that appeal to one or more of the senses. Identify 2 examples of imagery the narrator uses and tell which sense is appealed to through the imagery. 4. Tone- The attitude of the speaker toward a subject, character, or audience. One word to describe the tone is menacing. Menacing is something that is a possible source of danger or has a threatening quality. Name 3 words the narrator uses that might contribute to a menacing attitude. 5. Mood or Atmosphere- The feeling created in the reader by a literary work or passage.
