  10. Spring 2012 MSP Online Testing Overview Management Tools System Requirements

  11. Roles and Responsibilities Management Tools System Requirements Attend all required training sessions and read all assigned training materials required for each assessment; Provide a positive test taking environment; Administer assessments according to the Directions for Administration and the Replacement Errata issued by OSPI; Ensure that the Test Tickets are given only to the student identified on the ticket;

  12. Roles and Responsibilities Management Tools System Requirements Maintain confidentiality concerning secure assessment content (ex. questions, passages, scenarios, and individual student results); Document and report immediately any testing irregularities/breach in test security to your school/district assessment coordinator; and Complete a Test Security Assurance Form.

  13. Directions for Administration Management Tools System Requirements Online directions are included in the 2012 Errata Replacement Directions for Preparing and Administering the Online Assessments. Provide information for test preparation and test administrator directions for testing day. Must be reviewed prior to online test administration. The Errata Replacement will be delivered in districts between April 25 and 27.

  14. Student Demos Management Tools System Requirements Student Demos are a 20 minute video that shows all the different aspects of the engine. Available one per grade and subject. Should be reviewed at least once by Test Proctors who supervise any of the online administrations. All students should have had the opportunity to view at least once before testing.

  15. Online Tools Training (OTTs) Management Tools System Requirements OTTs are an interactive opportunity to become familiar with the test engine, tools, and functionality. Available one per grade and subject. All students should have had the opportunity to practice with the OTTs at least once before testing.

  16. Before Testing Checklist Management Tools System Requirements Become familiar with all sections of the Directions for Administration Replacement Errata. Obtain the testing schedule from the school assessment coordinator. Attend all required training sessions and sign training and test material security assurance forms. Review the Demo and OTT and familiarize students with the engine.

  17. Before Testing Checklist Management Tools System Requirements Review your school’s seating plan for computer labs. Obtain your school district’s plan for students who need additional time and will move locations to complete their assessment elsewhere. Become familiar with the reactivation policy and whom to contact if a student’s Test Ticket needs to be reactivated. Upon receipt of the Test Tickets, verify student information to ensure you have the correct ticket for each student.

  18. Before Testing Security • Testing Labs – • Work with SAC to configure testing areas (computer labs, classrooms) to reduce possibility of cheating or other distractions. • Screen protectors • Manila folders around monitors • Test Tickets – Form ID • Seat students based on form ID: A1, A2, A3, (B, C, D, E) etc.

  19. Before Testing – Test Tickets All students submitted through CEDARS by 3/30 will automatically have a test ticket generated for them. Students will need a Test Ticket to access the assessments. (One ticket per assessment.) The students’ Test Tickets provide all the login information needed to begin the assessment. Proctors must verify they have one Test Ticket for each student and each content area. Students testing multiple content areas online will have multiple tickets.

  20. Before Testing – Test Tickets • The Test Tickets are activated once a student logs in with his/her username and password. • Once the student completes a test (clicks “End Test”) the Test Ticket becomes inactive. • Once a test session has been started, the test session must be completed in the same day unless extra time is provided on the students’ IEP or Section 504 Plan. • Test Tickets are secure testing materials. Tickets must be distributed, collected and accounted for, while in the testing area (computer lab, classroom) only.

  25. During Testing – Student Directions • Proctors will read the online directions with the students prior to each administration. • Directions include sample items (similar to paper/pencil directions) • Reminder to students how to respond to different item types • All Proctor-led text is in the DFA errata • Proctors may provide assistance with logging into the test only.

  26. During Testing – Additional Testing Time • Coordinate with the School Assessment Coordinator to create a plan for accommodating students requiring additional testing time to complete the online assessment. Following are some examples: • If the testing room/computer lab will remain available instruct those students who need additional time to use the Pause function. Excuse all students who have completed their tests; the other students may then resume the test session. Or, • If the testing room/computer lab is not available and the student needs to be moved instruct those students who need more time to Pause and Exit their test. Excuse all students who have completed their tests. The students requiring additional time will need to have their Test Ticket and all other materials moved to another location by a staff member. If the student leaves the test via this method, the original test ticket will work on the same day of initial testing as well as any day after. Or, • At any time, if the student exits the test via the End Test button, the Test Ticket will have to be reset.

  27. During Testing Security • Cell phones, iPods®, pagers and any other communication devices must be turned off and kept out-of-view and out-of-reach during testing sessions. • Pause Function/Inactivity • Students will have to re-login if they are on Pause or show no activity for more than 20 minutes. If it is less than 20 minutes they only need to click Resume. • Upon re-logging in the original Test Ticket can be used. • All testing irregularities must be reported to the School Assessment Coordinator who will complete a Testing Irregularity Report and make the necessary coding in eDIRECT. • Resetting a Test Ticket: If a student’s test needs to be reset, the School Assessment Coordinator must be contacted.

  28. During Testing – Technical Issues • SAC should communicate the plan for dealing with technical issues during testing • Who do you contact? SAC, Tech Coordinator? • What information will they need? • Common Issue • A student receives an error message “Connection to server failed. Please contact an administrator.” • This is an issue with the schools internet connection or the firewall. Contact your Tech Coordinator.

  29. During Testing – Monitor Testing • Student Status Spreadsheet • Use report to verify all students have tested. • Students who move or test via paper/pencil do not need any further coding in eDIRECT.

  30. During Testing – Monitor Testing

  31. After Testing Checklist • Secure materials • Collect all materials from students immediately after completion of testing. • Account for all Test Tickets, Glossary of non-mathematics (science) terms, Mathematics Formula Sheets, graph paper and scratch paper provided during the assessment. • Work with your SAC for procedures for your district. • Complete and submit Test Security Assessment Form to the School Assessment Coordinator.
